The magic of journeying in the ’now’.
How do we write about something for which there are no words? How can I blog about something which is so elusive you cannot reach out to grasp it or pin it down? Well, here goes….
We live our lives travelling along a timeline of physical being. This plane of our existence stretches out behind us with the memories of what has happened and stretches ahead full of our hopes for the future. It seems so fixed and mostly full of regrets in the past and worries about what will happen in the future. The reality, though, is that we only exist in this one moment. The past no longer exists and the future is only imagination.
There are lots of good reasons for holding yourself in this one moment. Elkhart Tolle has written about this in ‘The Power of Now’ and ‘Mindfulness’ is a rapidly increasing type of meditation as a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging your feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. These states all have strong physical and emotional benefits.
Using sound as a focus helps, listening to the gongs is an easy and rapid way of achieving a mindful state. Many people find that the sounds help silence the monkey chatter in their minds. What else can happen?
It is our experience that the vibration of the gongs encourages an enhanced state of ‘Nowfulness’ . More than physical and emotional mindfulness, this acceptance of total existence in the moment releases us to exist in an infinite number of realities. A spiritual experience of enormity. Instead of being confining, pulling everything back to this tiny 3D pinpoint of our 'being’ is a way of seeing the wood for the trees and opening up any path we choose to take. If we allow ourselves we can journey into other realms and seek answers not available to us normally.
When we set an intention at the beginning of a Sound Immersion or Gong Bath, it’s a way of making the shopping list of things to bring back. Over an hour, we can wander across the Universe, we may look for a definitive answer to life’s questions, or we may seek a little more of our enormous potential for self-healing … and still be back in time for tea.
Nowfulness gives us more choices than we have in our falsely constructed timeline
Or, we can opt for just enjoying the ambient sounds and chilling out.
